Lars Mikkelsen-1Lars Dittmann Mikkelsen, born 6 May 1964, is a Danish actor. He has appeared as Copenhagen mayoral election candidate Troels Hartmann in the drama series The Killing, Charles Augustus Magnussen in the third season of Sherlock, the Russian president Viktor Petrov in the American House of Cards on Netflix and Grand Admiral Thrawn in Star Wars Rebels. In 2011, he won the Reumert Prize of Honour At 27 years old He was enrolled in the National Theatre School of Denmark from where he was graduated in the year 1995. He was also a part of The Killing's drama series. In the following years, he was on the show in Borgen III and Those Who Kill, which were both internationally acclaimed Danish dramas. He also had a major character in an episode of BBC drama Sherlock which featured him as blackmailer Charles Augustus Magnussen. In the American television show House of Cards he played the President of Russia. In 2018, he received an International Emmy Award for his performance in the main character of the Danish TV drama Herrensveje. It was aired in the UK as Ride Upon the Storm in the year 2019.
