Lee Roy Selmon's life story blends the virtues of family football scholarship with community service. First family, he's the youngest of nine children of Lucious the Jessie and Lucious Selmon. The family lived on a farm in Eufala, Oklahoma. The second football was that his father was the only of three brothers who played for Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy is the winner of both Outland Awards as well as Lombardi Awards. He was the top lineman for across the country. Over the course of three seasons, Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. The National Football Foundation named him an Scholar-Athlete for the 3rd time in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's diploma from the University of California at Berkeley. Fourth-year service in college Lee Roy devoted ten hours each week on volunteer work. After graduating Lee Roy relocating to Tampa which is where he played for nine years playing with the Buccaneers. Three times, he was named All-Pro. Lee Roy began his professional career. In 1988, he was an Account Representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank and worked in these organizations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute on Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of Ten of America's top young males. Lee Roy, a 6-2-inch taller and weighing more than 256 pounds when he played in the college level as a player, captained his team for the year 1975. In 1993 he was appointed assistant director of the University of South Florida. In 1993, the College Football Hall of Fame recognized the player as a member in the year 1988. GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame, in 1994. Pro Football Hall of Fame, in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma was the person who presented the award.
